How this site may be used

This is a reference site. Use it freely, and do not use it as the last word on whether food is safe to eat.

Accuracy

Storage times come from the USDA FoodKeeper data and are reproduced without change. Every comparison, ranking, percentage and date on the site is computed by us from those figures. We check the arithmetic, and we cannot check your refrigerator: the figures assume the food was sound when stored and held as the item pages state: a refrigerator at 40 °F or below, a freezer at 0 °F or below, and a pantry at normal room temperature. Only one of those three is not refrigeration at all.

Not advice

Nothing here is medical advice or a substitute for it. Some of the published windows are safety limits and some describe quality alone; each page states which of the two it is printing and why. The source prints storage times without saying which of the two each one is; the rule that decides it is ours and is set out on the past the date page. Food can spoil before any range runs out, and if something looks or smells wrong the figures are irrelevant.

Content and reuse

The underlying USDA data is in the public domain. The text, the comparisons and the arrangement of this site are ours. Quote us with a link; do not republish the site wholesale.

Liability

The site is provided as is, without warranty. To the maximum extent permitted by law, BiLingoPlus LLC is not liable for any loss arising from use of this site. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence. These terms are governed by the law of the State of Wyoming, United States.
